The Face behind the camera...

Hi, welcome to my website!

My name is Kaylee Vaughan, and I am the face behind Photo by Kay. I have been taking pictures for five years now.

My Why: For me, frankly, high school sucked. It was a series of medical tests, being in hospitals, and honestly just hoping that one day I would get to be a "normal" teenager. I started PBK sort of as an escape from everything. My normalcy came when I was behind my camera. Creating Photography by Kay saved me in a way. It never mattered that when I started, the only support I had was from my family and two teachers. When that camera was put in my hands, I fell in love with capturing moments. It wasn't just clicking a button or a "job". Photography was/is so much more than that to me, and still is. When I seem like I’m a little bit of everywhere, it’s because I believe life is too short to sit in your room and wait for opportunities to come to you. If you want it, work your butt of for it, and you will most likely get it.

Baseball was where I found my love for photography... a few weeks after I got my camera, I went to take pictures of my high school baseball team for fun. From there, it was all history. I fell in love with taking baseball pictures and became passionate about making people happy by giving them their photos. I fell in love with the smile people get when I show them how good they look, or the reactions from families who can't be there to see their players. I fell in love with every aspect of photography.

I have never seen this amount of support. I am so grateful for all of the parents, players, friends, viewers in general that genuinely love my content.  I'm forever grateful for where I am now and all the people who have supported me and never doubted how far I will go! I'm so happy to have you all along for this crazy ride.

Some things you may not know about me...

1. I am a current Junior at Missouri State University, majoring in journalism with a minor in communications. With that, I want to one day work for a sports team...and just got a job working for the MLB as an MiLB Live Content Creator!

2. Some of my favorite things are: Sunday mornings, fishing, being with my family, chocolate ice cream, seafood, Sprite, 7 Brew, and reading!

3. I am a substitute teacher and have worked at two daycares. I love kids and want to teach one day. I just have to live out my photography dreams first!

4. Even though I am most known for my baseball photos...I grew up in a big football-loving family, but I couldn't take football photos due to cheering all my life.
